What is the church of Christ?
The church of Christ is a group who believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and that it is the only source of authority for the church. Christ is the head of His body, the church (Ephesians 1:22). Not a building, the church is made up of people, people who believe that God's son, Christ, came to earth as a man and that God gave his son to die for our sins so that we may have eternal life, a joyous eternal life in heaven. What the scriptures teach is what identifies the church of Christ.
Our worship service
Our worship service takes place on the first day of the week, just as the New Testament church met. Worship includes teaching, partaking of the Lord's Supper, giving, singing and praying. Our example comes from the Christians of the New Testament. Based on these examples and commands, we have no instruments of music included in our worship. We partake of the Lord's Supper every Sunday (Acts 20:7).
How do I become a member of the church of Christ?
Salvation has two parts, God's part and our part. God's part was sending his son Christ into the world to redeem man. Our part is to hear the gospel (Romans 10:14, 17), believe in God and have faith (Hebrews 11:6). We must repent of our sins (Acts 8:37) and be baptized into Christ for the remission of our sins (Acts 2:38). We must follow these steps and live a Christian life so that others may see Christ living in us (1 Peter 2:9).
